Nokomis Beach is one of my favorites.

There isn't much to do here. The only business open after 9:00 p.m. is The Daiquri Den. They do have live music. The better beach is the North jetty. You can occasionally see dolphin fins break the water as they come into the jetty to feed. The restaurants here are pretty lousy. For Asian food, go to Yummy House in northern Sarasota. For fish, try Barnacle Bills. The original one on Tamiami Trail has the most local color. Marco's is the best pizza around by far. For steak, there's Ruth's Chris. For gators, go to Myakka State Park, $5.00 per car entrance fee, to see them in the wild.
