Use the back entrance by the Nature Center so you don't have to pay to get in the park right outside the back side of the nature center park your car and walk in plenty of trees to hang a hammock and if you get hot jump out of your hammock and jump in the American River

Lots of trees and shade to hang a hammock. You can even go down by the river in the shade and hang a hammock.

My brother visited recently, and was able to find several places in the picnic area to hang his hammock.

Lots of trees, but bring plenty of rope. They're big, mature trees, so they aren't super close together.
