Is the water here contaminated with E. Coli? There was something on the news about parts of the American river being contaminated. Also, are there homeless encampments around the area? Is it safe?

The beach area was safe and all the people there were quite pleasant. I didn't inquire about their living situations.

Water is quite safe, and almost river clear. No homeless people for the fact that its pretty away from urban area so the walk would be long.. Just lock valuables up to be safe

Dont drink the water, this is sacramento river, not the american, no homeless encampments. Yes, the area is safe, but hide your valuables in your car.
