Sometimes a pet store has resources for getting you in touch with a shelter or rescue. The employees aren't necessarily equipped to accept a stray cat. Though they sell supplies,, they do not always have the training on how to handle an animal. Also taking the cat into a pet store with people bringing their dogs in,, may ultimately stress the cat..Your best bet is to get in contact with a local rescue group or area shelter.
