If you show up before noon, reservations weren't always necesarry. Recently, we arrived for lunch around 1230 and didn't eat until about 230 because we didn't have a reservation.
We went around 7 on a Monday night in mid July without any reservations without a wait.
It never hurts to get a reservation, especially on the weekend!
Reservations not needed however they will help avoid the hour wait queue
