Hello Rachel, thank you for your question. Only paying the face value for a rare coin would be extremely unfair, so the answer is no, absolutely not. The amount that we pay depends on many different factors; what the coin is, the condition, if it's actually rare. I could go on for hours, it's very involved. Myself and my family have been coin collectors our whole lives, we'll know exactly what it is when we see it. The easiest and best thing to do is bring in what you have and we'll help you any way we can; we can make a strong offer for what you have, or if it's sentimental we may suggest you hold onto it. If it's not very valuable we may encourage you to give what you have to a young person to encourage a new collector. We've been giving away coins to kids for decades!
