It's basically Regal's knockoff version of IMAX. It doesn't fully qualify as IMAX and Regal doesn't have to pay the requisite license fees as a result. What it means practically is digital projection, larger screens, and louder sound. Emphasis on louder sound, for some movies the loudness can be unpleasant. In my opinion, not really worth the premium.
RPX theater has special seats that shake and vibration along with the movie.
It's a higher resolution movie experience including better sound as well. It's like a lower grade IMAX but the screen isn't as big and of course the shots are not as inclusive as IMAX where you get more on the screen. It's great for action and sci-fi movies.
I liked it when I tried it. Good to try it once.
