as long as your child is healthy and capable they should be ok, they also have a special setting just for kids where they slow down the karts a good but to make sure they stay safe
Yes however risk of injury should be weighed with this decision.

An 8 yr old would love it. Watch what you spend though...between cart package, video games, etc, it could get pricey fast
