Excessive drinking is called polydipsia. In the best case it is caused by your dog not having time to adjust to hotter conditions. The dog will adjust eventually. But if your dog drinks an entire bowl of water and wants more there are numerous medical conditions that cause excessive thirst. Related symptoms would be watery diarrhea, excessive panting or blood loss. If the condition does not seem to be related to a sudden change in temperature for the dogs environment, I would get to a vet soon.
