The food is good, the views are good, and the prices are good. Whether it's the "best" in Santa Cruz will vary with whom you ask, but it's darned good.
Came tonight and was really shocked given the above reviews... Terrible food. Mushy obviously frozen fish, overcooked veg... Service was lovely but food just bad bad bad.. avoid.
It has to be among the best if not the best outright. The view is certainly unbeatable. I saw someone say it's cash only. That's no longer the case.

I would go back to Riva - whether it is the best or not is hard to say, but if you decide to go to Riva, I doubt if you'll be disappointed. Give them a try!

Love this place, been going for years. Great food, many to choose from, great stocked bar, gelato yummy, best views from all tables looking out to the bay. If you ever get a dish that doesn't please you, let them know, they will make it right. You have to try this place, service is great and reasonable pricing. Specials for locals on Tuesdays
No! Crabcakes overcooked rubbery and appeared to be pre frozen.
