The problem here is that it's a busy restaurant, so they seat people as a table opens. If you want to wait, they should be able to accommodate you. Seems as though less people seat themselves in the patio at dinner, so these seats are available before tables inside are.
I did that request for patio dining and was told first come first serve basis. Not sure if you want to book table inside or outside though. It didn't work for me.
