It is 47 like Mark Denman says. Plus there are certain species that you need to purchase as a stamp on your license for certain types if you plan on keeping the legal size. I don't remember how much each stamp is, it might vary according to species I don't remember. I believe some of the species include salmon, sturgeon, and others.

You can just look it up online. California fishing license. It's the same no matter where you buy it. It is $47.01 for a one-year California resident sport fishing license. That's a calendar year there is no discount for buying it in the middle of the year
