In addition to cafe and pharmacy that Susy called out above, California is one of the state that Alcohol can be purchased without a membership. Also Eye/ Hearing exam (not the glasses/hearing aids) can be done without membership. Finally, if you can get a preloaded Costco cash card you would be able to shop (you can pay with combination of cash card and other visa/cash)
Without a membership you can only buy from the Cafe and the pharmacy.
Meant for members only. The cards are available bases on your needs. 50 dollars a year being the least for membership.
