Regular shower cap is fine.

My hair didnt get mud in it. I just had it up in a clip

Best bet would be a swimmers cap you can get at Big5 sporting goods it will be really tight or secure around your head and keep most of the mud out

I was concerned, that mud would get in my hair too - it did not! But, any type of cap would work.
