There are only a few outside of Chicago or the midwest. We have one in Buena Park and one on MoVal. II have friends who come from San Diego to visit... Just to eat there for dinner II don't see them expanding a lot in CA because real estate is pricier in many location
Everybody’s leaving San Bernardino or closing down. Nobody wants to go where the cops won’t even show up on calls, high crime city. This was way before covid19! Carousel mall went first!

Besides Chicago locations there is one in Anaheim CA. The reason there is one in Moreno Valley is because the owner moved near that area to spend time with his grand kids. He wanted to still eat portillos so he franchised one out in Moreno valley.
San Bernardino destroyed Hospitality Lane with that ridiculous bus lane that you can't turn from. I would not put any business on that street. Redlands would be a better city for another Portillo's.
