A Mexican and gumbo restaurant are not even a block away and within walking distance. Both are really good.
The Stables Steakhouse was absolutely wonderful. Great food, good service and a unique environment. Really was stables. We had breakfast across the street at the Hilton, i believe. Yes, a bit pricey but worth it.

Chavas is amazing. It's the subway of burritos. Their prices are decent too.
Clabber Girls has decent food, Gumbo place is good, there is a great ice cream shop, 2 Mexican restaurants with good food. There is a lot of food around there.
Clabber Girl is just a couple blocks away. We had a nice lunch there.
There are a few breakfast joints across the street which are walkable to. I dont recommend Crackleberries to me it is just to much salt and sloppy. There is also breakfast at Aracari kitchen which is a few blocka west had vegan options. For lunch and dinner there are some pubs, steak houses, cajan, mexican, pizza, italian all within quarter of a mile. My favorite would be Wise Pies for pizza. Fresh yummy toppings and quick.
