There are plenty of places to tie up a small boat for a short visit to Basin Harbor for lunch or to see the museum. For larger boats there will be some form of fee.
The north harbor is easier we've found. There are several moorings close to the floating gun boat. Grab one and dinghy to the gunboat dock. Touring the museum grants you a substantial discount at the restaurant by the airfield (which has outstanding food.)
You could tie up in Basin Harbor and walk through thr resort to the museum.
