If I can change a watch battery, is there any reason I cannot unscrew the one screw on my car key, then replace its dead battery?

As Richard said, don't leave the battery out too long. Also, my key has a small gasket to protect the insides that needs to be seated correctly.

As long as the battery isn't out very long. Or it will lose the program
