I would love to take my mom to see the butterflies, she will be in a wheelchair. Is there an observation area or trail we can take that is wheelchair accessible?

Not only is it flat, but it also has a few benches along the trail too. The entire sanctuary isn't very large. It is peaceful.

Michelle Sin | Dec 2, 2021

Yes. It's a flat walking trail for the entire sanctuary.

I was there on Sunday 11/7. There were a few groups of butterflies grouped on the ends of tree limbs. Not as many as I've seen in years past. I'm not sure if the migration has almost past Pacific Grove or has yet to get there. The PG Facebook page said 14k monarchs are in another sanctuary town. I think you can navigate a wheelchair ok on the path. Be aware that it is downhill going in and uphill going out.

Yes, very accessible.

There is an observation area but it may be difficult for a wheelchair to navigate. They may have more info if you contact the site in Pacific Grove.

It's flat and a nice quiet trail. Best time to see the butterflies is around 1130am especially if it's sunny :)
