I was there in early November. There were a few but not what I expected. You could call the Butterfly lodge and I bet the owners would be happy to tell you. I would think there would be a lot more butterflies by now. There is another Sanctuary in Santa Cruz. It was hopping so to speak when we were in Monterey.
We have visited numerous times throughout the years. Thanksgiving is when they're all supposed to be there. Around Valentine's day is when they mate. Valentine's day they were very active.
When I was there the were clusters on a neighborhood tree. None within the sanctuary, but they had a telescope set up to see it.
There were a few in the tree through the telescope, but definitely not a magnificent display
We were there on a rainy day at Thanksgiving. Saw a few shingled on a tree.🦋
When I went they were not there yet. Just a few were seen. The usual period is November to February and I was there in October! Beautiful area.
Is there more butterflies now?? December?
