Cell service is spotty but texts are often possible. There aren't really options for camping outside of the designated campground.
The camp is at least 1.5 miles from the nearest parking lot, which is on Angeles crest hwy. The road that once went to the campground washed out several years ago and the forest service has no intention of repairing it.
