When will the sec8 for kck reopen

That's a really good question, I am currently homeless and and long time resident of KCK. Never needed HUD assistance in my life until 2016. I went to HA KCK I learned that Sect 8 closed in 2012, 6 years and go an has not opened. Last week in desparate need of housing I returned to HA and was told yet again we don't know when the department will open. In my search for resources I learned that there is not 1 homeless shelter in Wyandotte KS for women and children. You have to go to other surrounding counties to receive help. Domestic violence shelter are a different service. Wyandotte County KS School District 500 serves 1400 homeless students. This district's homelessness is the second highest in the entire state of Kansas (see McKinney-Vento Research data report). Here's more staggering information KCK Housing Authority in 2018 submitted a RFP for 2 new commercial buildings including a 18,814 sq ft administrative building, 16.1 acres to cost estimate $6.5 million dollars.

It was open dec 9th. But it is currently closed now
