They have facilities built underground for those situations. They build the animal housing facilities under or in the habitats

I asked about this, specifically about the giraffe and gorilla. Gorilla: The gorillas have their own bunker, partially built into the ground, that can withstand hurricanes. A staff member shelters in place with the gorillas. Giraffe: For smaller storms they shelter in place. There is an off site location in Lutz Florida for hig hurricanes.

There is always someone in park watching over the animals when the hurricanes come through when they come through. We also have security on the property too. Certain animals have certain places where the go durring the hurricanes. Some are underground but most of them are in buildings made specifically for that animal and also to withstand the winds of the hurricanes we get.
