You used to be able to ... I remember just like 12 years ago it was allowed . Not sure now.. probably designated areas as the other reviewer mentioned. Go early. Twin lakes has a nice designated grill area thats not too busy
I'd personally look into it. I do know different rules often apply if you have an enclosed contained fire such as a portable grill. Especially if you have a lid that nicely fits which can extinguish fires from getting out of control
There are a few firepits on the beach south of Aptos creek. People claim them quick since there are only a couple of them. Good for a bonfires or roasting marshmallows.
As far as I know you cannot have a fire or grill on a state beach. You can use a grill on the picnic area. Get there early if you want a canopy.
Im not sure of the "rules", but its done all the time, i think propane. would be better, less chance of coals being out on the beach....
No fires allowed on the beach. Only in designated fire rings. Not sure about propane on the beach.
