As with most fixed prix menus, the chef is giving diners tastes of the freshest ingredients, most interesting combinations of flavors to show the creativity of the kitchen. Diners are greeted with a warm, inviting, casual atmosphere, fine wine pairings, and enjoy delicious food over many small courses. If you are not into fine dining and want to be stuffed, Commis may not be for you. And, there are many other restaurants to choose from fast food to local and national chains in other parts of the East Bay & Oakland.
The entire meal is a work of art. Unlike Mike, I was stuffed - it's very small portions per dish, but there's 13+ dishes; you're supposed to savor each one.
I agree with Joe. Great food and I couldn't eat anything else by the end of the meal. It's also a two Michelin Star awarded restaurant which means it's among the best in the country which they judge based on creativity, ambiance, taste, and the overall experience. And we asked for and received more bread. It was one of the best courses of the night!
The food is very good for the price, but they are so stingy. I was still hungry and asked for more bread, but they refused. I left hungry and ended up eating at taco bell after. Would not recommend for that reason alone.
