When I went couple of years back, they charged $20 entrance fee. I think that should be the case now as well.
We went during the week last week... with senior discount it was $16 each
Yes, there is a fee. You buy the ticket there - not in advance. Just inside the front door of the mansion on the left side, there is a counter where you can pay admission or purchase a membership. They'll explain the perks of membership ie: % savings of purchases in the gift shop, restaurant, etc... Primarily it's to help maintain the property. My admission was purchased for me by a friend but I'm pretty sure it was $18,00 or $20.00. Be sure to ask them for a map so you don't miss anything. The grounds are quite large and VERY beautiful. I highly suggest viewing the short film provided, (ask at the counter and they can point you to the door of the theater), it is very interesting and includes the history of how and when the site came to be. Hope this was helpful and enjoy the beautiful site. Ps. If you look on both sides of the roadway between the gate and the parking lot, we've seen deer there each time we've gone! ;)
So if I go during the week, the ticket price is still $ 20, right?
On the weekend it's free to enter the visiters center. I believe they serve lunch as well. That's what I was told. You pay for lunch though.
