Great hiking horse park with several trails circling the mountains. There are benches for resting after several miles of hiking. The trails are easy to navigate and there is a horse museum for viewing. The parking is limited is the only negative or else it would have been 5 star. It is not dog friendly

Amazing hiking trails amidst redwood trees with some views of the Bay Area. There are signs scattered along the trails with information on the wildlife, history, and descriptions of the skyline (such as Stanford). Parking is limited on weekends and holidays — tickets were getting given to people parked along the dirt/equestrian trailer parking in the lower lot, so best to stick to only market spots.

A great place for a 2+ hour leisure hike. Lots of younger (smaller) Red woods, eucalyptus, Madrone. Multiple paths up and down. Parking is a bit limited. Horse training and horse on path. Be cautious of your step to avoid cleaning your shoes. Great views, and a few benches to rest. There is even a green man-made alge filled lake.

One of our latest and greatest fines in the south bay area. This is a great place to hike in the shade, and see beautiful horses passing you by. It was such a wonderful place to explore and I’d love to go back again soon. It’s also very quiet and quaint and there was lots of parking on a weekday.

The Folger Stables are at the entrance to the park. There are rest rooms, picnic tables, water and maps of the trails. You can park and check out the stables without hiking. It's a gem!

Mostly, yes. It is not paved, but it is one of the most well maintained dirt trails that I have seen. Maybe an off-road stroller? Otherwise you might need to carry it in a few spots

All is open. The landslide that closed the trail is still there, but they've added access via other trail changes. I live up by the upper park entrance and go in to the park often.

Why is the park named Wundelich? Does it have anything to do with Fritz Wunderlich, operasinger?

ulrike kimbley-nicolai | Sep 8, 2019
Alexander Avtanski | Sep 8, 2019

The park is named after Martin Wunderlich, who donated the land. The park history is quite interesting, at some point being owned by the Folgers (of coffee fame) family. You can check more by visiting https://parks.smcgov.org/wunderlich-park or going to the park itself and checking the museum located at the Folgers stables.

The official map does not show picnic areas. Definitely a dry place to protect from fire hazard.
