I’m a student of Sam Brannan Middle and I have a field trip with some teachers and classmates to U.C Berkeley June 8, I was wondering that if we really have to be there before 6:40am and that what if our parents picks up late.

I have traveled twice with my kids by Amtrak for school field trips and yes you want to be there before 6:40AM to catch the train. And if your parents can't be there to pick up early enough when you guys are back, cross street to Denny's and wait there instead. Have a fun yet safe field trip. It is worth the efforts.

Go early because it is a long walk out to the trains. The waiting room inside the station is big and has places to sit down, bathrooms, vending machines. There might even be free wifi. The trains and buses have wifi. I'd wait for my ride at the station.

No more Denny's. The station has a waiting area or you can go to the restaurant that replaced Denny's at the Vagabond inn. Have you thought of calling the actual train station for advice?
