8 - 16 ounce weight. I usually bring a few of each. They always have whatever u need on board for like $3. Majority of the time its 16 ounce lead ball. Deck hands will always help ya out and advise ya on the beat gear to use.
Usually one pound weights. Sometimes they'll do smaller ones if they're just going up the marin coast, but if the boat goes to the farallons, you definitely need one pound weights because the currents there are so strong
Depending if you're using mono or braid, depth of water (125 ft. and deeper) 1 to 2 lbs. is rule of thumb. If you're fishing shallow water, under 125 ft, then generally, you'll be using 4-10 ounces.
