THA is public housing and section 8. They do not "accept" section 8 (they do have some properties under their THMS business that accept section 8 vouchers) but they supply the vouchers for section 8. The list for section 8 was open for awhile before the pandemic but it's been closed since. The waiting list for public housing is not closed. This is the 1st I have heard of them not doing section 8 ever again. They are only agency in Topeka that supplies vouchers when they government funds it. So I don't think that is correct. Try calling and talking to someone higher up then the front desk.
Elizabeth, I know they do Section 8 , but it's only certain times of the year usually. My question was have they done vouchers and help people get into Section 8house since 2019 . Because when I call and dial 0 , they tell me they haven't done Section 8 for a long time and may not do it anymore, and when I ask to talk to someone in that department, she says that they don't have an answer to why they aren't doing it either . Just found that odd when through the pandemic the Government was giving money to the states to help with housing . Then I applied for the regular housing and they took me off the waiting list because they said I didn't respond to a letter that was sent and I never received. Then I'd call before that and they would tell me one week I was o. The waiting list and the next , they hadn't placed me yet . Just seems a little messed up. But thank you for your response.
They're not closed they're open and yes they do take Section 8 try calling again and push zero
