Topeka housing authority have great people who take the time to make sure that you are taking care of the problems. So trey George and his team are the best 👌 👍

Had never lived in the state of Kansas ever. Relocated here to support my son Rontarus Washington Jr who desperately needed me with no family along with his son who i had custody of. I went through the entire process to transfer my section 8 and obtain housing only to have that process be the most hurtful and ugly first time experience to a new place due to the lady who was handling my case to the point a report was made on her on my behalf, After that report was made i was kicked off the program after already being approved. not only that she withheld all mu utility checks except 2. nothing has been done to this day THESE LAST 2 YEARS LIVING HERE HAS BEEN HELL THANKS TO THA

Christy is an absolute angel she is so awesome and she has made me so blessed I now have a place to call home. If ever you go to Topeka housing authority say hi to Christy and I hope she gets to help you out the way she helped me I have been without a place to live for a one and a half years due to tornado and covid. I am just the most blessed person in the world today and it has everything todo with Christy.

Reasonable rent. They have been cleaning the building frequently. Electric is the only utility you have to pay. And is usually not too high. It's a friendly Elderly atmosphere. It also welcomes Section 8.

Margaret, Sadly we do not have emergency housing. We would refer you to the Topeka Rescue Mission. 354-1744. 600 N. Kansas Ave. 66608.
Judith, you can transfer vouchers for Section 8. Please call our office to find out how.
Gabby, Unfortunately we don't have emergency housing. In that instance we would refer you to the Topeka Rescue Mission until we can get you placed.
THA is public housing and section 8. They do not "accept" section 8 (they do have some properties under their THMS business that accept section 8 vouchers) but they supply the vouchers for section 8. The list for section 8 was open for awhile before the pandemic but it's been closed since. The waiting list for public housing is not closed. This is the 1st I have heard of them not doing section 8 ever again. They are only agency in Topeka that supplies vouchers when they government funds it. So I don't think that is correct. Try calling and talking to someone higher up then the front desk.
It's best always to go up there to talk in person , it's the best result
You can contact Topeka Housing management services they can answer your questions

THA is closed on weekends. Your coworker lied.
Jazmene, go apply for public health housing. You dont need a job to apply. Its income based.
Sorry for the delay, the pre-application is available at www.tha.gov
Please contact our office at 785-357-8842 to discuss. We do not check credit.
Christopher, There is no credit check involved. Please feel free to apply.
You can call every Friday to find out what your place on the waiting list is. The more often you do that, the better idea you have of how fast or slow the list is moving.
Tonya, We don't have a seperate list for each development. Once you apply HUD regulations state that we have to offer you whatever we have available in your bedroom size at that time.
Mind your own business or try to help not hinder. Perhaps your neighbor has an addiction!
You can call on Fridays to get your number. The more consistently you do this the better idea you have of how fast or slow you are moving on the list.
My advise is to contact THA by phone or in person and speak with someone in Section 8 to help you.
We would like to assist you but you will first need to apply either through the THA website or in person at the THA office.
