Paintings for the most part is a no. But as far as the exibits yes you can. Usually whatever the don't want you to take a picture of is guarded by someone

Most exhibitions allow as well as the general museum allow pictures.

We were able to get pictures in all areas of the museum, but that was a couple of years ago, it may have changed.

Check at the front desk when you visit. Some of the temporary exhibits do not allow photos. Other areas allow only non-flash photos. Some areas have no restrictions.
