Technically yes, there is a self-pay envelope system. Weekends there is a camp host who will facilitate but off hours and weekdays I believe it's all done by envelope. It's first-come first-served though, so depending on the season and day of the week you arrive, you may be out of luck. Have a backup site in mind!
It's not too busy out at Holcomb this time of year. There are envelopes available for payment, its $23 a night, $7 for second vehicle. 8 people max on one site. A host comes by once a day.
Yes but it would not really be worth it if you go after 4pm when the sun is going down unless you plan to stay there a bit longer. The next day everyone has to clear out at noon unless you pay for another day. A person will walk up to you to collect the fees which includes the number of cars, how many nights, and the camp site itself. I think they ask how many people too. When I went with 5 friends and two cars I think it cost $35. There is a rough road getting there so I would not reccomend going up there with any fancy car. I had my 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander GT with AWD and it handled the rough road that was at least 4 miles til you reach the camp site. I highly recommend taking a suv..the road is not maintained and there is a lot of bumps and dips..have fun..it's a cool site away from the busy areas. It's nice and quiet and there is a biking and walking path. Have fun
I got there at 9 30 pm a couple of weeks ago.
