There's discount parking at Farnsworth Street garage at 17 Farnsworth Street. Also parking at 11 Stillings Street. Can also get 2$ off parking with validation from the museum.
We walked and took the train, there are side streets by the children's museum
We also walk almost everywhere. Or took an Uber.
The website recommends two lots and they are both discounted by the museum. I parked at the fransworth street garage. I was a 5 min walk to the museum from there.
We walked everywhere or took Lyft. So I can't answer about parking.
I parked 280 Congress Street garage. Used Spothero parking app. Whole day parking 9.75 in clean, safe, easy-to-use garage. Walked 5 to 10 min to the attraction. Easy in, easy out, plus restrooms attached to same building.
Across the road
First of all, I'm glad you're considering going here! Second of all, Boston parking is very expensive. The cheapest and best way to park into find a garage two or three blocks down so it's cheaper, then walk. The distance isn't that far, so walking is fine, unless you have a mobility issue, in which case I would recommend a meter or getting someone to drop you off before parking.
It's not worth parking there unless you have a mobility issue. The MBTA South Station is a couple of blocks away.
