What is the distance of the the trail / boardwalk? Does the path circle the park and end where it begins or is the path linear forcing you to turn around once the path ends to get back to beginning?

I'd say all of the gardens and boardwalk aren't more than a mile and a half, probably even less than that. The boardwalk circles back around to the entrance of the park!

I am not sure. It's a small park with a lot to see.
