No i dont have one on mine. Just invest in auto topoff and skimmer till you learn the hobby. Equipment just makes things easier / less effort to maintain ideal conditions. Smaller tanks are harder to maintain stable water parameters in the long run
All depends. Some tanks are all in one which have the filtration in the back. If not youd need a sump. Im pretty sure you got an all in one system since you're already starting to cycle
I'd make sure you have a good skimmer and hang on type can not work as well as a skimmer in a sump look into it might be easier imo
