You need to take your I. D. card and file for a replacement card there should be someone there to assist you.
I should have stated that I had to be prepared prior to going to any social services. I had my original birth certificate, California Driver license, marriage certificate, social security card, & divorce papers with my name change. It will save you time from having to go back & forth from any State office.
