After driving few hundred miles, the AC on BMW X5 doesn’t seem to cool. The engine make an unfamiliar high humming noise as well. An idea what’s the reason?

Assuming you bought it new, take it back to the BMW dealership and ask them to check/repair it, if needed. If new, it will be repaired under the BMW warranty.
