Yes, it's worth it. There are many, many smaller dino displays to see. It's also the only way to go inside the T-Rex.
There is no cost to go there and take pictures. I see people are paying to go there? I drove up took pictures and left. No one was there to collect money? There is no booth or person there? I think you have been scammed.

For children just touring the gift shop and outside large 2 dinos is perfect in my opinion.
