I have an older chihuahua mix with a broken tooth; VCA in Richland quoted me 1100 total for extraction and related necessary services. I was hoping to get a second opinion; can I get it done for less than that or is that the appropriate cost?

That is very high, but it does depend on what needs to be done... Some extractions are more complicated than others. I'm surprised they gave you a firm quote, however, since usually vets can't fully assess a dental until the dog is anesthetized. Vista is an excellent vet. I take my personal animals to them, and they also work on some of our more challenging rescues. Menks is good, but personally I prefer working with Dr Brendel rather than Dr Menks. Dr Reagan at the Fix Machine is a competent surgeon - he's done dentals on a number of my rescues in the past - and his prices might be lower. All that said, I have a couple of rescue dogs in need of dental care and I'm taking them to Zillah Vet Hospital... It's a longer drive, but a good vet and her charges for dental work are VERY competitive.

WOW!!! That seems really high!! Call VVH, I bet they can do it way cheaper and you will love them!

Call Menks for a estimate.
