Yes and they don't respond back to ya
The website to visit to see what animals may be available at our local rescues & shelters, including Redlands, is www.petharbor.com. I learned first hand this past Wednesday that, in addition to an appointment, they require you to complete an adoption application BEFORE you even meet the animal you're interested in. I have NEVER been asked to do that before meeting the dog or cat and have adopted numerous animals from local shelters & rescues over the years. I was not willing to complete the application before even meeting the dog and was REFUSED access for my scheduled appointment. I spoke with severl levels and management, up to the Deputy Chief of Police Reiss, and they dug their heels in stating, "That's our policy." It may seem like an insignificant issue, but this adds to a long list of problems with Redlands Animal Shelter over the last two years. I am in touch with the Mayor to see what can be done to improve things.
Yes, they are not currently allowing drop ins. They require that you visit a website that shows the available animals, then you call the number and give them the the animal that you want to visit's ID number and they schedule an appointment. We went and the two animals who were available and not pits...were taken or scheduled for a visit. Lots of animals there, but only a handful available.
