Without an appointment 2-3 hours if you get there when they open, if you go later in the afternoon expect to be there till they close, if you can even get in. If you have an appointment it will usually only take about an hour, hour and a half tops. Best bet is either appointment or get there an hour before they open and be the first in line.
Best is to avoid going there at all unless you enjoy the feeling of being incarcerated. I didn't know it was possible for people to move as slowly as most of the reps. Some are great, but most are surly and none seem to be the least bit concerned tthe line extends around the building. You are MUCH better off renewing online, or if this option is not available to you, get a membership at AAA where is is fast and easy.
