They have open registration multiple times per week. Be prepared to get there early and sit on the sidewalk for a couple hours. Also make sure you check their website for all the paperwork you need! They require a lot of ID and tax verification and it's a huge pain if you get sent home for not having the appropriate forms. Also, I would argue that you don't need to pay for a calling service unless you plan on doing background work full time. I do BG once or twice a month and I've been fine with just calling in myself. Good luck and welcome to LA!
Yes you can. You get there very early with your picture ID and social security card or passport. It takes about three hours and they take your picture. Dress your best upscale look. You will also need a calling service to get regular work. You can book yourself but it's best to do both. There are 20 other casting companies you can register with too. You must know you body weight and sizes too for all of them including central.
My suggestion is to visit Central Casting's website and read the "Essential Guide To Registering With Central Casting" and as many Articles as you can read. This will give you a right panorama in the way it works. As it was said, when registering, COME EARLY! Line starts around 1 or 2 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If you get by 5 am, chances are that all spots for the day were taken already. Bring a chair, scarf, pillow, ear muffs and blanket. If you have a car, you can leave your stuff by 8:30 am, the time an Instructor starts giving Blue Cards (if you don't bring a car, then bring a large bag to put your stuff. It is ok to enter the classroom with your stuff). Be mindful that street parking is prohibited between 3 am and 5 am, but everybody parks near Central Casting, just be on the look of the Parking Enforcement if an officer shows between these hours. Another suggestion, go to the restroom before coming to the site; restrooms are not around, so, come empty. Bring snacks.
Yes. Registration is open to virtually all non SGA members
@Lora Hakanson. It is astounding how many people can't follow instructions. They don't require a lot of I.D. like you say. They require two forms of I.D. One can be valid California state picture USA I.D, and the other can be Federal USA I.D.. If you are not a USA citizen or are from a foreign country in the USA on a work visa, the requirements may be a little different. But don't just blurt out, "they require a lot of I.d." Because that is not absolutely true.
Is the wait time and procedure the same for sag member's?
Sorry, I was trying to ask a question and put it in the wrong place.
