You you consider getting the Real ID, the federally approved version. The process starts on line at www.dmv.ca.gov Because the standard is so low for the regular California ID, and undocumented immigrants can get it, as if next year, one will not be able to use the regular California ID to enter any federal facility including airports, Amtrak or even at a post office.
I think it's just car registrations and I do know all DMV transactions need to be cash or personal check
