Why would you donate food that's expired? Food bank is not garbage bank...you use it...
Many different food items are pulled from local stores & donated; dry, canned, fresh. Individuals donate. Farmers donate. The Food Bank workers assess what they can put out and what they will not put out for distribution based on TCFB directions. Safety is the first priority. They need so many things the stores do not regularly donate, such as: Baby food (fruits, vegetables, toddler meals), formula, diapers, wipes, women's sanitary products (can you even imagine?), anything you give is definitely inspected & distributed to so many in need. Thanks for giving to others!!
The only thing I know of that is accepted after the "best by" date is bread. Can't be moldy or anything, obviously. I'm not sure how long after that date you are allowed to donate, tho. You may be able to get more info on their facebook group, Tri-Cities Food Bank. Hope this helps. :) PS I believe their number is 509-943-2795, you can prob call and ask.
