The museum frequently has hands-on activities for kids during school vacation weeks. Our partner museum, Harvard Museum of Natural History, is connected to us on the third floor, and it has the Climate Change, Story Time, gems, minerals, and animals. Another partner museum is across the street (6 Divinity Ave.); Harvard Semitic Museum is always free and has drop-in hands-on DIY activities for kids during the summer (this year through August 25).
Definitely! The climate change exhibit had interactive video displays and some (not all) artifacts are touchable.
They have story hours on the weekend.
Not much hands on. My al.ost 7 year old likes the displays with a recording you listened to on a phone receiver. It's good for kids that are really into animals, maybe rocks and flowers.
No hands on, but attractive to kids 5 and up bc large shiny rock exhibit (many rows of cases) that are low and accessible. Also, almost every kid of living animal is stuffed and on display. Lots of (mounted) bugs too...
Not a lot of hands on activities for children, very nice Museum but it's a more of a look but don't touch kind of place
It's more of an old school museum with more of an emphasis on specimens in cases than hands-on exhibits. There are some fascinating displays, but a little kid is probably going to get bored unless they're especially visually oriented or especially interested in the subject matter.
Not for toddlers.
