Yes, you need to make an appointment. They usually are a month out at the Humane society. This is because they are the most affordable! You can also call your local rescue society to see if they have any vouchers to help with cost. I was able to get two 50.00 vouchers for my two females. For each female the total was 104.00 each. So with 100.00 voucher I ended up paying 108.00! Incredible as I was quoted 5-600.00 each by one vet!! 189.00 each by another. The total also paid for pain meds for both. They put a little green mark on the I tummy for future reference to prove they've been fixed. I brought them each in their own carrier marked with my name and phone as well as the kitty's name. It was a wonderfully professional experience. I highly recommend them.
Totally in a carrier. Definitely call and make an appointment. They will call and confirm your appointment a few days in advance also. Whatever you do, read the giant white instructional sign carefully, I wasn't paying attention and I put my name on the LIST, and I was suppose to CALL a number listed on the sign. I was almost a no show, but they squeezed me in. Good luck!
