The reasons for them not being able to repair or work on anything 10 years old or older is because they lack the knowledge in it after Dave's brother passed away and his wife Sonny stopped having anything to do with chaparral Motorsports Dave has destroyed the company he quit buying stocks in bike companies to have them on the show floor and started using ssr's a cheap Chinese knockoff. Your best bet is to take it to a mom and pop bike shop because they will repair it properly and not over charge you. My brother bought a brand new 2001 Honda rebel from them he changed the oil regularly around every 1500 miles he was on his way home from Disneyland one day the engine seized and I had to pick him up we took the bike back down to chaparral they said that he failed to do the maintenance process even though he had receipts and proof that he always oiled it they refused to repair it and when they gave us the engine back it came in a giant bag with the wrong pistons and wrong engine casesides
A majority of parts are harder to get when a bike gets older
