Last week we saw three whales on the 3pm tour.

This was just a harbor tour. Don't know if the whales are very prevalent on the whale watching tour. That's usually from December through March. Hope this answers your question. The harbor tour is nice and the aquarium is amazing & right there.

You have to purchase tickets so call first and clarify the best time to see the whales.
