Those planes can cost $millions each to acquire & restore, let alone keep flying, so it's quite a bargain! Best to educate the kids to help them stay engaged for a longer stay. There's a small outdoor area where you might bring bento (portable lunches), but call ahead for suggestions. Visit the museum website to plan your tour. 'Sprinkle' the amazing stuff to keep boredome down while checking out the more obscure details. They also have a "jets" museum around the corner (short drive) that has a full sized replica of Chuck Yeager's Bell X-1 sound barrier breaker & other real classics. The Americana fare airport diner with a great pie selection, is nearby. As the working planes areas need to be kept fairly immaculate, the more 'distant' places can be dingy, by comparison.
